Philippine victims receive aid from the PMCGC

2013 HabitatForHumanity

Philippine typhoon victims receive aid from the Prime Minister’s Charity Golf Classic.Corporate and Charitable Organisations have responded to Habitat for Humanity Trinidad and Tobago’s (HFHTT) call for assistance for the victims of Typhoon Haiyan. The first cheque donation of $25,000 was handed to the Disaster Relief Fund by the Prime Minister’s Charity Golf Classic in a brief ceremony at the office of Habitat Trinidad and Tobago on Monday 18 November 2013.

Representing the PMCGC Committee were Rianna Harrinauth, Chairperson, Vashti Phekoo, Treasurer/Director, and Bill Ramrattan, Director, who presented the cheque to Jennifer Massiah, National Director of HFHTT.

Ms. Phekoo said, “We saw on the news last week the devastation and the hunger. We saw that we needed to reach out someway.” Mr. Ramrattan explained, “There is an active Filipino community here in Trinidad and Tobago, and as they are contributing to our society here, we felt the need to give back.” Ms. Harrinauth sent out a plea to other charitable organisations: “Everybody must chip in. The people of the Philippines need health care, food and shelter.”

In response, Jennifer Massiah stated, “Thank you to the PMCGC for responding. Bless their hearts. We are very concerned about our brothers and sisters in thePhilippines. We have all seen the heart-wrenching pictures of children standing in water amid the debris of what used to be their homes. Habitat for Humanity International is sending 50,000 cleaning kits and 30,000 shelter kits immediately, and plans to build 10,000 core houses. We say to people across the world to get on board, get involved, help our sisters and brothers.”

Habitat Trinidad and Tobago thanks all those who have supported us thus far, and continues to urge everyone to contribute generously to the relief effort by:

Assisting Children with Cerebral Palsy

Re : 15TH ANNUAL PRIME MINISTER’S CHARITY GOLF CLASSIC – 2011

The Prime Minister’s Charity Golf Classic (PMCGC) is currently “driving” towards the staging of its  15th annual fund-raising Golf Tournament .

This year we will be back in Trinidad  on Sunday September 09, 2011 and we tee off at the St. Andrews Golf  Club, Moka with another grand round of golf geared for great fun and enjoyment, all for Charity. A significant portion  goes towards the Children’s Life Fund.   The PMCGC has become synonymous over the years with a highly prestigious event and a must for golfers and sponsors alike.

Earlier this year the PMCGC at a function at the Preysal Community Centre, handed over 12 specialised and motorised wheel chairs, accessories, orthotics and other aids to children suffering with Cerebral Palsy to a value of $200,000.00.  Dr. Martin Carillo  from Miami,  spent the day fitting the children with their new wheelchairs and training the parents to properly care for the children. The PMCGC also funded Dr. Carillo’s visit to Tobago, where he met with several CP children and parents. Next in this year was a cheque presentation to our patron, our Prime Minister, for $75,000.00 towards the Children’s Life Fund. Last year, in 2010, the PMCGC in its continuous outreach responded to the plight of the flood victims throughout the island, by donating food hampers and mattresses to affected families.

Our Tournament, this year will again bring together teams of two players each in a 2-Ball format. As usual, there will be ample refreshments and attractions from “tee-to-green”, while the prizes for the top  teams   are always full of surprises, not to mention an opportunity to win a car in any one of the four  (4)  hole-in-one” prizes on offer by Life Style Motors.

Our usual Awards Function will be staged immediately following the game.

Team sponsors are encouraged to get on board at this time, while golfers are urged to play their part in linking up with their regular sponsors.
